How to Make Goal Setting a Priority

Every day at Elevate Management, we make goal setting a number one priority. We know that when we have a clear idea of what we want, and how to achieve it, we position ourselves for lasting success.

One of the things we look for in Elevate Management candidates is someone who is focused, determined, and has the mind-set to achieve objectives. That said, we don’t let people go without proper guidance. Here are three points we stress with our new hires so they are well on their way to succeeding with our team:

• Set Goals You Can Achieve: The trick to goal attainment is to aim for realistic targets. Mind you, they should be challenging and require some effort because that’s what growth is about. But we ultimately want to see results, so pie-in-the-sky objectives are not what we seek.

• Keep Track of Progress: Weekly check-ins are ideal if we want to stay focused on our final goal. However, monthly and quarterly reviews can also ensure we have a firm grasp on our progress and can make adjustments in time to stay on schedule.

• Milestones Matter: Let’s face it – we all need to feel like we’re moving forward, which is why setting milestones and celebrating them when we hit them is key. Even small achievements give us energy to keep going.
